Welcome to RossbyResonance’s documentation!

RossbyResonance is a standalone Python code collection that can be used to investigate basic states on Rossby wave resonance within the framework of the linear barotropic model. Unlike the (commonly used) refractive index theory, this method is based on a numerical solution and does not require the WKB approximation to be valid. Thus, the results of this method are preferred to the results from the refractive index theory.

So far, only a zonally symmetric model exists, which was introduced in Paper 2. This project is intended to grow further. In the future, we plan to be able to investigate zonally asymmetric basic states as well. The project will then simply be expanded.

For more (background) information about this model and the variables, please read the paper [PAPER2].
